Kim Kardashian: Whose Lives Were Ruined By Marrying/Dating

The Kardashians have a long legacy of earning money for having no talent, and accomplishing nothing of significance. But perhaps more troubling is the growing list of men that the women in this family have dated or married, who have ended up paying the price for their relationship with these publicity vultures. So any men out there reading this should consider it a warning list:  abandon all hope, ye who enter here.

Kris Humphries

It’s not as if Humphries could have thought that marrying Kim Kardashian was anything other than a publicity stunt. But perhaps he really did catch feelings for her, because he seemed genuinely hurt when their marriage ended at the 90-day mark. In fact, Humphries was so hurt that he sued Kim Kardashian for fraud, saying that she seduced him into believing that she had true feelings for him, when in reality (get it?) all she wanted was to earn money from E! for allowing the network to film her lavish wedding. Humphries could also claim that his status as a serious NBA player was damaged by the derision and laughter his ‘sham’ wedding caused among his teammates and other players in general.

Lamar Odom

This is actually a very sad case, because Odom by all accounts is a caring, giving person who has battled the demons of alcohol and drug abuse for much of his life. In 2009, however, things changed when Odom met Khloe Kardashian, and after a whirlwind courtship of about a month, the two decided to get married. Khloe has said in interviews that she believes Odom was her soul mate, and he has shared similar feelings for her, but the truth is, for a man trying to win the battle over addiction, being thrust into the spotlight that is a natural part of the Kardashian lifestyle was a bad idea. Not only did Odom appear in the flagship show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” but E! decided to greenlight a spinoff, “Khloe and Lamar,” that chronicled the newlyweds and their life together.

 Scott Disick

Disick isn’t exactly the poster boy for mature behavior, but you can’t tell me that being fodder for his partner hasn’t accelerated his drug use, drinking and general unpleasantness. Disick’s partner Kourtney always takes him back after he misbehaves or cheats or acts like a cad on a soap opera, so it’s hard to feel sorry for her, and even harder to understand why Disick would constantly allow himself to be emasculated by not just Kourtney, but also momager Kris Jenner.

Reggie Bush

Bush is still in the NFL, but it was clear that things went south after he got involved with Kim Kardashian. Although he won a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints in 2010, he was never the same after breaking up with Kim K in 2010. The Saints traded him to the Miami Dolphins after the 2010 season, and though he had his best season in 2011, he’s never come close to the Super Bowl since his relationship with Kim ended.

 Tyga

Tyga is in the midst of a much-publicized, much-reviled relationship with Kylie Jenner, and the rapper has seen his popularity suffer since he started dating Jenner when she was under-age. Tyga must be aware that getting involved with any member of the Kardashian family leaves you wrecked, desolate and laughed at, but he’s enjoying the notoriety while things last.

Miles Austin

Austin is a former receiver for the Dallas Cowboys who now plays for the Philadelphia Eagles. He dated Kim Kardashian for a few months in 2010 after he relationship with Reggie Bush fizzled. During that time, Austin was a decent receiver with the Cowboys, an up and coming star. After the pair broke up, Austin never got to the promised land in terms of his skill set. Hmm, wonder why? Another man who was infected by the curse of the Kardashians.

Rashad McCants

The former North Carolina Tar Heels basketball star was once a promising young player in the NBA until he met Khloe Kardashian in 2008 and started dating her. Needless to say, McCants’ career went into the tank after he broke up with Khloe in 2009, and he now plies his trade somewhere in Europe after admitting to a cheating scandal while a student at North Carolina.

Kanye West

It’s not that Kanye isn’t still making music and saying stupid things, but it’s clear that he’s lost a lot of street cred from loyal fans for deciding to become a Mr. Kardashian, pulled in by the lure of more fame and publicity. Look, if this marriage works, more power to them, that’s not even the point. What’s the key here is that Kanye West can never again claim he’s a rebel and iconoclast, not after having done the most mainstream and predictable thing anyone looking for attention would do:  romance a Kardashian.
